Embodied Listening for executive coaching professionals

This one day workshop is an introduction to Embodied Listening, an evidence-based polyvagal-informed programme for coaching professionals.

The Elmfield Embodied Listening programme offers an accessible step-by-step road map to autonomic nervous system regulation, which executive and leadership coaching professionals can share with their clients. Understanding the basic neurophysiology of safety and regulation is empowering for both coach and client.

The evidence-based programme takes participants through a detailed understanding of Dr. Stephen Porges’s Polyvagal Theory (PVT) and its application in leadership coaching situations. Referring to the latest research papers in PVT and other emerging neurophysiological conversations, participants will gain a greater understanding of the importance of physiological safety and regulation. Questions such as how we know when we are safe, why safety is important, and the spectrum of felt-safety will be examined.

So often we act from a place of defence, responding to a current situation using cues from historical experiences. However, when we know our own somatic landscape, we can better regulate our autonomic nervous system consciously in relation to others and our environment, without falling into unnecessary protective states. Sharing this detailed knowledge with leadership clients can be invaluable, and moreover, employing tools and techniques for regulation can be transformative for all involved.
